Our 2nd Aniversary

Today is Me and Mavericks 2nd anniversary! It's a short-long kind of two years. We've had a lot of ups and downs, forwards and backwards. But hey we've made some progress. :) And on top of that, I have learnt so much! And on top of the top of that, our bond is stronger and our love deeper!!!  ๐Ÿ’—

The truck that brought the beast.
Sooo hungry.

"Wow! Is this real? This is my horse!!!"

Last nights hugs before going to bed to dream!
I don't know what to say and how to describe myself. But I've found some other people's wisdom that expresses a tiny part of my thoughts.
How did this get so accurate?  But at the end of the day, it is the journey that counts, so why not make it longer?

There have been times I've been disappointed in my horse but as soon as I change myself, the problem disappears.

I've had some criticism about what I've done with my horse but I'm so glad I didn't let that influence my decisions.  This quote encourages me.

My Favorite 5 Horse Trainers

I've been wanting to post more about horses and bring out the whole name and idea of my blog like ever since I started it. But funnily enough, I find horses one of the hardest things to write about. I think it is because I have the most thoughts on the subject and find it hard to limit and order them. But I'm going to try harder...so you can expect to see more posts on horses coming up! :) Anyway here are my favorite horse trainers and why.

1. Jesus (See the Bible)
Of course, we know Jesus is perfect at everything but I'm still pretty blown away by this story of him and a horse.
Mark 11:2  And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.
4  And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.
7  And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.

This really must have been a miracle! The colt had never been ridden, suddenly strangers come, take it from it's home and throw garments on it. Next, Jesus gets on it and as the story goes on people sang and shouted waving palm branches. When you think about it that is a lot for even a trained horse to deal with. Jesus knows the most about horses because He made them. So He is the very best source for training advice. I have found prayer to be a great help to me when working with my horse. It keeps me calm and reminds me that it is God's horse I'm working with.

2. Mark Rashid. (www.markrashid.com)
I've read 3 books by author and trainer Mark Rashid. I've found his ideas so simple and profound. He is unwilling to fight with a horse at any time but looks for clear ways to communicate. The books have helped me see horses and people too in a different and clearer light. He never puts other trainers down but says it is simply about what results you want to get.

3. John Chatterton (johnchatterton.com.au)
I have had a training session with John, read his book and watched one of his DVDs as well. His focus to not dominate the horse and teach it where is comfortable is beautiful and effective. He builds a great groundwork platform from which saddle work flows on naturally.

4. Lauren Woodbridge. (Black Pearl Horses)
Lauren is my riding teacher and employer, and I'm her fan. She is kind and patient with horses, especially wild ones. She loves knowing the science behind everything and how the horse's brain works. She readily embracing new information that aids and simplifies the training process for the horse.

5. Carlos Tabernaberri (www.whisperingacres.com.au)
I learned about Carlos in his articles in Horsewyse Magazine. The tips and tricks he shared there were helpful and made sense. He seems to keep things simple. Also, I gathered from the articles that He believes in God and that was a great encouragement to me.
